Wednesday Morning, July 17, 2019 Meditations For The Metro

Reading

Blessed is the one who does not walk an evil path, but who finds delight in the words of the Lord, and who meditates on them day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water which yields its fruit when it is time, and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever they do prospers. For the Lord is with them.

—Psalm 1 (OT)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Read the passage again. Is there a word or idea from it that stirs in you? Linger over it and give it your attention. Is there something you’d like to ask God about? Pray your life to God, and take a moment to rest and be present.

Prayer

Promise-keeping God, to believe is to commit myself, to give my heart away—a scary proposition. But you woo me like a lover, making clear your intentions and making certain your promises. May this hope be the anchor of my soul. Amen. (HC)
