Reading
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food each morning, while people say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
These things I remember as I pour out my soul.
—Psalm 42 (OT)
Quiet
As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.
Dwelling
Read the passage again. Find a word or phrase that catches your eye or moves your heart. Slowly repeat it in your mind in meditation. Be strengthened by the presence of God.
Prayer
Almighty God, today I pray for people across the globe who groan under unjust rulers and crooked governments. Whether it’s brutal dictators, corrupt city officials, or neighborhood bullies, bring freedom through your mighty hand. Amen. (BC)
