Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.
Reading
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people. If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, then know this. It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth that this man stands before you healed.
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were uneducated, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.
—Acts 4 (NT)
Commentary
If God is always Mystery, then God is always in some way the unfamiliar, beyond what we’re used to, beyond our comfort zone, beyond what we can explain or understand. Many first learn to love and know God through the familiar, human face of Jesus and from there come to recognize God’s presence everywhere. (CAC)
Stillness
As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness. Recognize that you are in the very presence of God.
Prayer
Breathe on us, breath of God; infuse our everyday lives with a majesty and glory that only comes from your Holy Spirit dwelling in us. Fill our lives with a boldness that is simply the overflow of your eternal life in us. Amen. (BC)
