Day 175, Morning

Today’s morning meditation is available below in audio and script formats. The audio version is also available for free download on the player.

Reading

When you pass judgment on someone else, you have no excuse, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because by passing judgement, you’re now as guilty as you believe them to be. Why do you show contempt for the riches of God’s kindness, forbearance and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness is intended to lead you to repentance?

But because of your stubbornness, you remain guilty. To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, God will give eternal life. But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be trouble. For God does not show favoritism.

—Romans 2 (NT)

Stillness

As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.

Dwelling

Read the passage again. Notice how God might be speaking to you through the words. Dwell on a word or phrase that jumps out, and let your heart respond to God in meditation.

Prayer

Just and forgiving God, I want to repent of my “repentance.” I’ve tried to repent, usually out of fear or anxiety, and sometimes as a pious way to earn your forgiveness. But when I see the beauty of your kindness, when the mercy of Christ grips my heart, I’m led back to you. Amen. (WC)
