Day 182, Morning
Reading
Unable to keep all the rules, I gave up trying, and died to them altogether, so that I might live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Never again will I despise the grace of God. For if peace with God came from keeping all the rules, then Christ’s death was for nothing.”
—Galatians 2 (NT)
Stillness
As your day begins, spend a few moments in silence and stillness.
Dwelling
Remind yourself you are in God’s presence and read again. Notice how God might be speaking to you through the words. Dwell on a word or phrase that jumps out at you, and let your heart respond to God in prayer.
Prayer
Blunt God, you don’t leave any wiggle room. Either the salvation you offer is all in Christ or it is not in Christ at all. Sometimes I find a hybrid gospel appealing, adding some current spirituality to faith in Jesus, topping off the gospel with my hard work, augmenting grace with my pleasant idols. Confront me again with the unvarnished truth that my salvation is in Christ alone. Amen. (BC)
