Penny Yao

Penny Yao is originally from Singapore, and grew up in Malaysia and England with a Buddhist and Christian background from her parents.  Penny is an arts advocate and writer, who began her college education in International Affairs.  She earned her Master’s from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and was a senior manager in the corporate world until she became a professional fundraiser at nonprofit organizations, including the Asia Society and AFI (the American Film Institute.) She is a long-time volunteer and currently serves on the Smithsonian’s Freer Sackler Galleries Friends Council Advisory Board.

Penny found her faith renewed at CiB as soon as she walked through the blue doors (that were not blue then!)  CiB offers the space for each individual to grow in their faith, at their own pace. At CiB, Penny finds enrichment and learning, genuine fellowship, and many opportunities to support and serve others in our church and community, in whatever capacity we can offer of ourselves.
